Alright let me start this off with a warning- it is not my intent to offend anyone in this post I simply want to point out something that I find funny. My little brain is kind of wacky so bare with me!
I am a visual learner! I am an actress so of course my personal assistant reads me my lines and I magically put up Emmy worthy performances each episode. I know simply amazing huh! So anyway when I read things I often read them exactly as they are spelled- no I do not take into account silent letters or different sounds. For example- EVERY SINGLE time I read this name I say it wrong- Joaquin- in my mind it is JOE A QUINN. I know Captain Stupid here! But come on we all do it!
For example people- it is not Mi Cochina- its Mi Cocina! Do not put the Ch sound in it. The restaurant is not translated into My Fat. I laugh every single time someone says that- and you guessed it- I am the inappropriate laugher! You know the person that can't stop laughing when they should not be laughing at all and then the harder you try to stop the worse it gets. Tears well up, snot starts to run down and then you explode into a huge laughter! Yep that's me! But Monica does it also- she may be worse than I am!
So anyway this happens to me when people say things incorrectly! Jennifer Aniston and I discussed this on our limo ride through Dallas the other day (yep thats how we roll). For instance its not Chip OT L people- its Chipotle! I am by no means an expert (see Joaquin example above) but ugh nothing is funnier than listening to it sometimes!
Also is it funny how when you go to an ethnic restaurant (let's say Mexican, Italian, etc....) and the person taking your order does not fit the demographic at all! I mean does it kind of take away from the experience- yeah I agree! Let's take lunch yesterday- I went to a French restaurant and upon leaving the lady taking my order said "thank you- Merci" except it came out like MERRRRRRRRRRRRCCCCAAAAA. Yep she was a true Texan and really didn't have the whole French accent down. It was so funny, I just left laughing!!! I mean who am I to talk I sound like a wet chicken sometimes!
The other funny thing is when you take on the accent that someone else has when you talk to them. I do this on a daily basis with Dennis's caretaker Rosie (you know from the Jetson's- awesome robot). I somehow start speaking robot talk in a slow and drawn out fashion. Michael always laughs at me but for some reason I feel like Rosie understands me better when I speak Robot/English. Hey call me crazy.
I thought about carrying around a megaphone (straight Ty Pennington style) and that way maybe people could hear me better. Kris and Bruce use to live in Brazil and so you know we did what all Brazilians did- get their legs waxed. Kris you know spoke such perfect Portugese that absolutely NO ONE understood her. She called to make the appointment and took the approach that the louder she spoke the more they would understand her! She proceeded to scream LEG WAXING into the phone- it seriously was hilarious. I mean if someone yelled Arabic at me I would totally understand! Ha!
Alright well Michael just called to tell me that JOE A QUINN Phoenix is coming for dinner- better get going!
